Racing in a Team

Obstacle Racing is so much more than just a sport, it’s an adventure… and who wants to embark on a great adventure alone? Your triumphs will be achieved unoticed, your hardships will go unassisted except by strangers and your epic wipeouts will fade into obscurity without your best mate there to rehash them over and over again in graphic detail…

Don’t take life so seriously that you would rather not find yourself hindered by a weaker team-mate and prefer to race alone. Let’s face it, you’re never going to win, and while you may achieve a better time by yourself you’ll miss out on the fun that is racing with a partner or team.

When you do have a good team or partnership it can be an incredible experience. You’ll strategize the best plan of attack for each obstacle depending on the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. It’s great fun working out how to get the whole team through an obstacle, whoi goes firsrt, who goes last, who lifts who and how. Wearing gloves can be useful for lifting team members because your hands can become very slick with mud and sweat (yuk). I guarantee you’ll be laughing and talking about a particularly splendid face-plant for YEARS after the race is over!

Look after your weaker team mates and tell any drill sergeants to shut their pie holes, we race as a team – a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link! So take it easy, enjoy the race and the company you keep, you won’t regret it!

Oh and be warned, when you race in a team you will get severely goosed at least once, you will very likely get a face-full of someone else’s crotch and you will happily grab onto any part of another persons anatomy to lift them up and they won’t care. Just so you know…
